Top 5 MUST HAVE Fall Items

Top 5 MUST HAVE Fall Items

With more than half of September behind us, we're well on our way to autumn! We have already begun to feel the cooler temperatures lurking in and our summer clothes are no longer doing the job! Its that time ladies..time to switch over to our fall wardrobes!

It's safe to say that fall fashion is by far my favorite; boots, sweaters, leggings, scarves..everything is so cozy and textured! However, you can't truly appreciate a new fall season without a few new items in your closet…am I right ladies? I think so; that's why I've created a collage of the top five MUST HAVE items for your fall 2016 wardrobe!

THEY ARE:

1.) Open-toed boots and booties:

Get your pedicures ready girls cuz' this fall is all about showing off those tootsies! From ankle booties to thigh-high boots, the open-toe trend is a must! They serve as a perfect transitional shoe and with so many textures like suede, leather and lycra, they look amazing dressed up or down with any outfit!

2.) Moto Jackets:

A sleek and edgy way to stay warm in the cooler temps, moto jackets serve their need without sacrificing a great outfit. They look amazing over a dress or with a T-shirt & jeans. You can leave the sleeves long or scrunch them up to the elbow for a sportier look. With a moto jacket this season, you can't go wrong!

3.) Cold shoulder Sweaters:

There's nothing I love much more than a nice knit sweater, but I've always found it challenging to feel comfy without looking like potato sack! Luckily there's a new fun and feminine option to throw on this season; "cold shoulder" sweaters! Finally a sweater that we can pair with any bottom and still look fabulous! The cut-outs give added interest & offer more of a silhouette compared to your boring old sweater..GENIUS!

4.) Velvet:

Velvet is such an old-school classic fabric & this year it has been re-birthed into one of the most loved trends for fall 2016! From pants to tops, to bodysuits & even boots, its everywhere & I'm loving it! You can add sophistication and elegance to any look day or night, and the best part is, it comfortable! (BONUS!)

5.) Military Blazers:

The blazer is back and better than ever! With double breasted buttons, structured shoulders & embellishments, military inspired blazers are a staple this season! They are available in colors like army green, navy blue, and kaki so they're extremely versatile. Wear them over a nice silk blouse or just a simple cotton tank with jeans and still look sharp!

My top 5 tips to a happier life

Welcome back to the blog! I just wanted to take a moment to acknowledge every single one of you who stops by to view my posts; it truly means a lot to me💗

I believe that the things we do day-to-day have a bigger impact on our overall health/happiness/success than we potentially realize. How we do one thing is how we do everything, and the choices/behaviors we make don't just effect our day..but our whole life. However, with just a few small changes to our habits, we can positively affect our mindset, stamina and motivation throughout the day & in tern, create a better life for ourselves.

I have recently made a few small changes to my daily routine that have already started to impact me on a greater scale & I wanted to share them with you.

Without further ado, here are 5 things that I am working on that are already changing my life:

#1 Meditate:

Meditation is clinically proven to reduce stress, increase happiness, slow the aging process, and increase consciousness. I make it a priority to listen to a meditation app (called "Calm") every. single. day. Most of the time I put it on before I go to sleep (I use a specific meditation that helps me relax and fall asleep easily.) If you're not keen on sleeping with music on or you find it might be hard for you to take a few moments out of your day to meditate..ITS OK; you still can! They're all different kinds of meditations out there; even kinds that you can do while you are moving about and doing your thing! I play meditations while I am getting ready for work, when I'm doing my hair and make up, when I'm making breakfast or dinner, or when I'm just sitting at my laptop doing work. So whether you do it with your eyes open or closed..😉..it will still have major positive effects!

  • Download an app to help you meditate
  • Take 5,10, or 20 minutes to be still & calm the mind
  • If you cant do that, then play mediations while you are around the house or in the car

#2 Affirm:

In addition to meditation, it's important to feed your brain with positive affirmations & feel good messages throughout the day. To be completely honest, I find it silly to look myself in the mirror while saying affirmations aloud.(although this does work immensely, its just not for me) Instead I choose to gain value through other peoples messages that resonate within me. Since I'm not a big reader & I'm constantly on the go between jobs, I've made it a priority to get in my daily affirmations while driving. Instead of listening to the radio, I like to listen to uplifting audiobooks, motivational videos from youtube, and podcasts from top influential leaders I look up to.

  • Play inspirational videos when you first wake up to get you inspired for the day
  • Download an audiobook to listen to in the car or while your bored at home

#3 Eat Healthy(er):

This one is challenging because everybody's needs are different when it comes to food & what we do or don't eat. All I can do is make recommendations based on what I have been doing. The first thing I did was cut back on sugary drinks and added more water to my daily diet. Although I'm not perfect (I don't always get the recommended amount in & drink caffeine almost daily) but "baby steps" count. I now take my caramel macchiato with almond milk instead of soy & I always have a water bottle with me at all times. I also replaced a lot of my processed snacks and sweets with organic all natural snacks that don't include additives and artificial ingredients. (I get majority of these snacks from Wholefoods)

  • Try to drink 2x as much water as you usually would
  • Cut back on sugary drinks/snacks
  • Incorporate more natural/organic snacks instead
  • Add more fruits & veggies to your diet

#4 Move the Body:

Wether you join a gym, a yoga class, or simply take a walk outdoors; it is crucial that you get some form of excise daily! We put our bodies through so much with poor posture, poor diet, and poor circulation. I take out my yoga mat and stretch my muscles each night while I watch TV shows with my hubby. I also just restarted my gym membership and plan to go at least 3 days a week. If you think you don't have time to take care of your body..you're lying to yourself. Anything is possible if it's a priority & our health should be at the top!

  • Wake up 15 minutes earlier & stretch our your muscles
  • Do simple workouts while watching your favorite TV show
  • If its a beautiful day, take a walk or jog through the neighborhood

#5 Plan Ahead:

It seems like a no-brainer I know..but most people have a hard time planning ahead. Between work, kids, household chores, personal time, and maintaining a social life, WE GET STRESSED! We all desire to have enough time in each day/week/month to be successful in our careers, be good parents, keep a clean house, get enough sleep, and enjoy our relationships. But most of the time we don't know how to juggle it all and many of our wishes/desires get put on the back burner. This is why planning ahead is KEY. I am a super-planner..seriously, ask my husband! I keep a daily planner, an online calendar, and you guested it..lots of do-to lists! I make sure everything I need to get done each day gets written down and checked off as it gets completed. I look at the planner and know which bills are due when, who's birthday is coming up, and which night looks best for date-night. I have my online calendar linked to my husbands so I can see when he's traveling and when a fun week or weekend trip can be planned. If my weekend looks crammed, I see my girlfriends for dinner on a week night & let my hubby order take-out.

  • Get a planner & map out your week
  • Set up an online calendar with reminder alerts
  • Start thinking ahead at the weekend as early as Monday
  • Use free time to get a head start on something you would've put off doing
