New Years {Revelations}

There's no day of the year where we feel more inspired to change & improve the quality of our lives quite like January 1st.

What is it about writing a new # on the end of the year that gets us so excited & motivated?..A fresh start?..A clean slate?..A chance to be do & have all that we say we want? The answer is obvious; all of the above!

But then we typically write this list..a list of "resolutions" that we have all good intentions of doing/getting/changing..but ultimately..don't end up doing. And why is that? In my opinion, this happens because "resolutions" put a lot of pressure on us all at once & we rarely have the ability to accomplish such goals without extreme determination & focus. Is it possible? Sure. BUT with busy lives, other priorities, and old habits, it's hard to stay on track. (cuz we're human..duh)

So I had a different approach, a healthier approach to the new year/new you ahead..and I'm calling it New Years "Revelations"

Instead of writing down all that you wish to change/improve about yourself or your life, you look back at what has or hasn't served you over the past 365 days. This way your not coming from a place of judgement or thinking that what you were doing before "wasn't good enough."

So once you observed the actions or behaviors, you can simply decide to keep, add more of, or let go them based on where you want the direction of your life to go. You are still getting the opportunity to have goals for the new year, but without a heavy expectation, which if you don't achieve, could leave you feeling ashamed.

With that said, I had many revelations about this past year on what things did and did not serve me. So I created a list of a few actions/behaviors that I wish to keep, add more of, and let go of for 2017!

My {Revelations} were:

  • When I practice gratitude daily, it changes my perception of everything throughout my day πŸ™ (keep!)
  • Meditating consistently will give me a clearer mind πŸ˜Œ (add more of!)
  • Eating junk makes me feel like crap & I always regret it afterwords (let go of!)
  • When I create a strategy for where my $ is going week to week..it's easier for me to save πŸ’° (add more of!)
  • All these recent trips have made me want to see the world more than ever before! πŸŒŽπŸŒπŸŒ (add more of!)
  • I enjoy listening to audio books and since I hate to read I should take better advantage of the opportunity πŸ“š (add more of!)
  • I don't get enough sleep and I can feel it taking it's toll on my body πŸ˜΄ (get rid of the bad habit/add more sleep!)
  • I have been neglecting this deep desire to be charitable and help others; I sometimes think it would make me the most happy (add more of!)
  • Being indecisive wastes time and energy πŸ˜© (let go of being so picky!)

*My number 1 revelation was about gratitude because I think its important to stop at least once a day & think of what we're grateful for. So often we get caught up in our-day-to-day life..and then days turn into weeks, and weeks to months, and months then turn into a year, & before we know it we blink her eyes and we wonder how life went by so quickly! So my advice for you/me for 2017 is to take {more} time to be aware and grateful for our livesπŸ‘

Wishing you all a happy & healthy 2017!

Travel Organization Tips

When it comes to traveling..most of us just wish we could close our eyes, snap our fingers, and magically appear at our destination! Unfortunately, it isn't that easy. There can be a lot of stress associated with traveling, particularly the packing process! What to bring..how to pack it all..it can be overwhelming!
I've been traveling a lot recently..and have gotten pretty good at the whole process. That is why I have created a list of helpful tips to make packing easy & effortless for you..so keep on reading!

1.) The first tip for staying organized while preparing for a trip is to ACTUALLY PREPARE! So many people wait till the day/night before a trip to pack which makes things stressful & hectic!..not exactly ideal before a getaway am I right?! Here's how you can get prepared without the stress:
  • Start packing up to five days before your trip
  • Purchase any clothing/toiletry items you may need in advance
  • Do any laundry/dry cleaning to assure all of your favorites are clean and ready to go
  • Check that all of your luggage and/or tote bags are fully functioning

2.) Prep Your Outfits in Advance:  This seems like an obvious one but you'd be surprised at the amount of people who don't do this! They just throw a bunch of clothes in their suitcase and worry about coordinating later! Take the extra 10-15 minutes while you're packing to coordinate your outfit, shoes & accessories. Here's how to make it easier:
  • Consider how many days you are going to be away & how many outfits you will need per day so you know how many items you can expect to pack
  • Use your bed or floor as a canvas so you can physically lay each item out
  • Once you have some items in mind, lay them next to each other
  • Select coordinating jewelry & accessories that would go great with that look
  • Select which shoes would match & place them aside as well
  • Once you are happy with your coordinating pieces, feel free to snap a pic so you can remember what goes together then fold & stack the outfit

3.) Consider the Weather: You would think this is a no-brainer too, but so many of us don't consider what the temperature will be day-to-day where we are traveling & end up without the proper attire. To assure this doesn't happen to you:
  • Check a reliable weather source for the forecast where you are going
  • If it is going to be cold, pack a coat. Don't have room in your suitcase? Wear the one you want with on the plane
  • If there is rain in the forecast pack a mini umbrella inside a pair of shoes or in your handbag if there is enough space
  • Going somewhere sunny? Remember to bring sunglasses & sunscreen; both are easily forgotten!

4.) Pack Efficiently:

Depending on how long you'll be away will determine how many bags you need. On average most people take with them a checked bag, a smaller carry-on bag, & personal item. When it comes to determining which items should go in which suitcase, I've provided tips for each below:

Your Checked Bag:
  • Pack the majority of your clothing in your checked bag along with your shoes (since they are bulky)
  • Use the shoes to store smaller items, or special things you don't want shifting during the flight
  • Packing a lot? Roll your items & stack them side by side to create even more space

Your Carry-On Bag:
  • Pack all of your "essentials" in this bag..God forbid your checked bag doesn't make it to your final destination (which happens TOO OFTEN!)
  • Pack your favorite items, valuables, toiletries & an extra change of clothes
  • Pack a sweater or blanket loosely on top where it's easily grab-able in case the ride gets chilly
Your Personal Item/Purse:
  • Being the easiest bag to access during travel, keep what's most important to you here
  • You should have all travel documents (passport, i.d) easily accessible
  • Traveling abroad? Make sure to carry a pen for filling out those customs forms
  • Perhaps you may to like to snack during the flight, so pack a few munchies in here
  • Don't forget your laptop & headphones to enjoy in-flight entertainment
  • Like to snooze? Pack your earplugs and/or eye-mask so you can sleep peacefully
  • If your flight is long, bring some favorite makeup items for touchups before landing

There you have it..a few tips to hopefully help you pack easily & effortlessly for your next trip.

Winters Hottest Acessories

Winters Hottest Acessories

Hey loves!

Accessories play as big of a role as clothes when it comes to fashion..I'm a huge accessorize(r) {is that a word?} & I love to shop for bags and jewelry as much as anything else. So today I am bringing you the hottest accessory trends for winter 16". Of course there are so many trends to choose from but I picked my personal favorites for this post & I hope you're as obsessed as I am!

1) Fringe Earrings; This is my personal favorite trend right now.. they're so beautiful & feminine. Dress them up, dress them down.. they make a statement and they just scream LUXURY! {BUY HERE!}

2.) Embellished Phone Cases; Why not make the thing you hold the most..your most fab accessory? Think about it; most of the time our phones are not in our handbags, they are in our hands! Everyone sees you on them..checking your email..answering text messages; take off your boring rubber case and give your phone some bling! {SHOP IT HERE!}

3.) Padlock Handbags; Again we're adding to that {luxurious} feeling but with a lock and key. It's so much fun, very sophisticated and yet doesn't have to be expensive; I've seen so many affordable versions of this Gucci clutch online it's unreal.. {SHOP IT HERE!}

4.) Corset belts; Again we have to thank Kim K for brining back this one…prior to her sporting these bad boys just a few weeks ago, these belts were a thing of the past, & only offered as a provocative lingerie item πŸ˜³  Thanks to the "queen" these belts are everywhere & not risquΓ© in the least! {SHOP IT HERE!}

5.) Wool BoHo Hats; I was never a huge fan of hats..but I picked up a few within the last couple of months I have been finding them so useful! When my hair is bad, when it's just too cold, or I just feel like throwing it on..it is so chic and finishes off a cozy look any day. {SHOP IT HERE!}

6.) Pins and Brooches; Ever since this craze of denim jackets started popping up over the summer, girls have been accessorizing them with brooches and pin sets and I think it is SO adorable! They are being shown on regular tops, jackets and hats and I can't get enough of them; so feminine & fun! {SHOP IT HERE!}

7.) Pom-pom Keychains; These have been around since even before last year, but the craze has not ended. As you can see with this Tory Burch "pouf", high end designers are making them in the cutest forms & I bet they're not going anywhere anytime soon! {SHOP IT HERE!}
